Find Out How Social Networking Sites Can Help You Create Buzz For Your Online Business

The search engines are using social signals more than ever to help them determine what websites and blogs are getting all the attention. With the growth of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, My Space, StumbleUpon and Digg the search engines have noticed and are adapting by using social buzz to help them decide how to assign page rank.

Link generation is still huge when it comes to getting noticed by the search engines. Google, Yahoo and Bing also have noticed however, that with link farming and sophisticated software, that link generation can be manufactured and therefore is not as strong an indicator of website popularity as it was just a few short years ago. Now the search engines are using Facebook “likes” or Twitter “re-tweets” or Digg “diggs” or YouTube “views” to decide which websites are getting the most attention and therefore deserve the higher page rank. If you doubt this trend, then please notice that Google itself has recently initiated their own “+1″ button to help determine social popularity. This is called “social proof” and social signals are things such as “likes” or “diggs” that are essentially a vote of confidence. So if Google notices a lot of “likes” or YouTube “view” are pointing to your blog or website, you’ll get rewarded.

It all boils down to this:

Social signals increase visibility and search engine rankings.
Social signals offer social proof that others have found something of value.
Social signals are considered a vote of confidence.
Social signals cause content to gain momentum and greater visibility in the social networks.
Google admits that social signals are a growing determining factor for their rankings.
Search engines are now outsourcing their opinion to the social community.
You need to build social signals on your website or blog.

So why is social proof superior? Have you noticed that if a YouTube video has more views that it creates more curiosity. The same is true for Facebook “likes” and so on. Do you trust content more if other people have said they like it? The old saying goes that a “crowd always draws a crowd” and “there’s safety in numbers.”

If you have a website or blog, you need to start displaying social proof in everything you do. Create quality content and allow people to cast a vote and then you will start to get noticed. The social proof won’t necessarily draw the crowd, but the search engines will notice and reward you with higher page rankings and then the traffic will find you that way. The “digg-digg” plug-in will help you get started displaying social network signals.

I have discovered a service called Synnd Content Syndication Network that can not just help you get your site bookmarked on the various social sites, but will help you create social buzz on the social networking sites and ultimately improve your page rank which will get you the traffic you need to succeed online.
